Alice is the Manager of Consulting Services at Groundswell and she has been with us for 3+ years. Alice oversees our consulting team and is the main driver behind our varied internal training programs, including Camp ProSurf, our 5-week training program for Interns and New Grads that sets them up for success in their new role and environment.

If you could be on any TV Show, what would it be?

I would love to be on the Great British Bakeoff as a judge. The creations the contestants make are spectacular and probably taste just as incredible! I also enjoy baking in my spare time, sourdough bread, bagels, muffins, cakes, you name it! It never looks as good as it does on the show, unfortunately!
Tell us about your team. What makes them so amazing?

The Consulting Team consists of 28 team members, ranging from Functional Associates to Lead Functional Consultants, Solution Architects, and Project Managers. We are extremely fortunate to have such a smart and talented group of individuals that have come together from around the world, bringing their Salesforce and Consulting expertise and experiences to the team. I have seen time and time again that the team is not afraid to tackle challenges head-on. What makes us amazing is how we collaborate and support one another in all that we do. We all work on a variety of projects, so it is important, especially now that many of us work remotely, to stay connected. We have weekly team meetings to connect, celebrate our successes, and share our learnings to grow our skill sets. I really love how diverse our team culture is and value the time we spend together outside of the day-to-day work.

What is the best part of your day?

Being in consulting, I have never experienced a boring day! Each day is different than the next, and I love the variety of things I get to work on. By far the best part of my day is connecting with my team.

What are your favourite things to do in your spare time?

This year I learned to garden! Learning through countless youtube videos, as well as trial and error, I was able to grow and harvest 3 varieties of kale, lots of zucchinis, beans, chilli peppers and delicious tomatoes (that turned out to be 8 ft tall)

What do you think is key to your success as the Manager of Consulting Services?

Being the Manager of Consulting Services, my primary focus is on my team members’ growth and well-being. I believe that part of being a good leader is getting to know each of my team members as a whole person, not just as an employee. Understanding everyone’s hobbies, passions, and different ways of working is so important to me and the team’s success. I even created a Get-to-know-your-team workshop held at the beginning of every project so that individuals can learn about one another before they dive into a project. Connecting is especially important as we continue to work remotely and have new members join the team.

Another important part of being a leader is creating the space for feedback and discussions. I do this by using the Radical Candor approach in my day-to-day discussions with the team. In my 1:1 and coaching conversations, I bring compassion and curiosity to the table. I genuinely want to support each of my team members in their personal and professional development journey.
